History |
The Kitchener Ladies' Band was organized by George H. Ziegler (1893-1959), founder of the Berlin Conservatory of Music. The band made its debut in 1925 at the Kitchener Old Boys' Reunion. It disbanded around 1935. At its height, the band numbered 92 members and was advertised as the "largest and most completely equipped ladies' band in the world". The band played at civic events and held Sunday evening concerts at the Lyric and Capitol theatres. Band members wore white uniforms with standup collars and black braid trim. The uniforms were made by the Barrie Robe and Clothing Company, and members were required to purchase their own uniform. The hats were supplied. |
