History |
William Doherty founded a furniture and music store in Clinton, ON in 1868. He was a distributor for Bell organs by 1874. The following year, he began to manufacture his own line of organs, which expanded to three manufacturing locations by 1897. By 1906, the company began to manufacture pianos in addition to organs, and the company name was changed to Doherty Piano and Organ Company Limited. In 1920, the company was taken over by Sherlock-Manning. |
