History |
Canada Sand Papers Limited began in 1931 and was owned by Percy R. Hilborn (1886-1972). The factory was originally located in the former Baird Brothers Furniture plant in Plattsville, ON. As demand for the products increased, a number of additions were made to the factory. The company exported sand paper to Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Mexico, and Cuba. In 1950, the company was bought by Carborundum Abrasives. The company was again sold in 1985 to the Norton Company, and again in 1990 to Saint-Gobainn Corporation. Saint-Gobain Abrasives is still in operation in Plattsville as of 2011. |
