History |
The Elmira Memorial Arena was built in the 1950s. Throughout the years it underwent a number of renovations and upgrades, the largest being in 1988. In 2009, the arena was demolished and a new arena was built at 24 Snyder Avenue South in Elmira. It is named the Woolwich Memorial Centre and cost $23 million to build. It contains twin ice pads, a swimming pool, fitness centre, meeting rooms, walking track, community hall, and a seniors' centre. The new centre was built on the site of the old Elmira fairgrounds. |
