Description |
Large redware crock with simple everted rim and rounded (convex) sides which taper in towards base. A circumferential groove has been incised below the rim of the crock. Glazed on all surfaces except base, sides near base, and top of rim. There are definite fingermarks in the unglazed area, near the base, where pot was held while being dipped in glaze. Inside is encrusted with some unknown substance. Colour is reddish-brown with darker specks. This crock is very distorted, perhaps from placement in kiln. |
