Description |
Cardboard box containing eight paper Xmas tree light shades, with remnants of three cone-shaped light bulb caps with pins that support the shades. Shades have various coloured Christmas motifs (nativity, toy soldiers, reindeer, Dickensian winter scene, etc.) Printed along the edges of each shade: WHIRL-GLO, c1936. Lettering on box (in part) WHIRL-GLO/Revolving/XMAS TREE LIGHT SHADES. Box design is primarily green. Instructions for use are printed on the side of the box. Box is .1 Shades are .2 to .8 |

History |
Whirl-Glo shades were manufactured by the Sail-Me Company in the United States. The shades were available in boxed set of five or ten. Paper cones with metal needles sat on top of the light bulbs. The shade rested on the needle and the heat from the bulb caused the shade to rotate. |
