Description |
Small alcohol stove has a circular can with a lid that fits tightly into the bottom of the can. Inside the can is the stove which is in three pieces: a two piece stand and an container/stove that has two caps, one that unscrews to fill the container with alcohol and the second to light the alcohol. The stand has a top and a bottom. The top is like a circular rack on three legs and sits on the bottom. The bottom is a circular frame with the side divided into three and each piece is sloped and stepped toward the bottom edge. The height of the top can be adjusted by placing on one of the steps on the bottom. The alcohol container/stove which has three projections from the bottom edge, sits into the bottom half of the stand with the projections sitting on the bottom. .1) tin can with lid. The bottom of the can has a pair of oval wire handles which fold flat to the side. .2) iron bottom of stand. Stamped around the rim on the bottom is stamped into the metal "W T & Co./PAT. History |
Maude Bowman (1885-1968) was a daughter of Leander Bowman (1865-1937) and Rebecca Snider Bowman (1855-1929) of West Montrose, ON. Maude was a Nursing Sister who served in the First World War. She originally enlisted in Britain's Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service in 1915 and was stationed in Egypt. Maude then enlisted with the Canadian Army Medical Corps in August of 1916. She spent the remainder of the war serving in England and France. |
