Description |
Green leather billfold. The ends of the leather have been folded to create an overlapping closure on the exterior, and pockets on the interior. Machine sewn. When the billfold is open, there is a third leather piece in the centre. The central piece has a branch of maple leaves stamped into it. The central piece is attached to the main body by four leather straps. |

History |
Reuben S. Bowman (1853-1918) was the son of Mary Ann Shoemaker (1824-1876) and Joseph Bowman (?). In 1879, Reuben married Louisa Geiger (1852-1937), daughter of Joseph Jacob Geiger and Elizabeth Hollinger (1824-1896). Reuben was a contractor and built many houses on Wellington Street and Schneider Avenue in Berlin/Kitchener, ON. He also built the old Kitchener Post Office and the Christian Science Church. In 1892, he built a large show home on 30 Francis Street North. |
