Description |
Transparent, moulded glass bottle. The base and sides are circular and taper in toward the mouth and thick lip. There is a circle embossed on the front of the bottle. "Berlin City Dairy/T.W./Wambold" is embossed within the circle. There is no manufacturer's mark on the bottle. |

History |
Tobias Wanner Wambold (1842-1931) operated a dairy under several different names from around 1894 to 1915. Other names for this dairy are The Up-To-Date Dairy (1901-1903), Wambold & Rickert (1903-1908), and Berlin City Dairy (1908-1915). The dairy was located at 160 King Street East in Berlin according to city directories. Wambold & Rickert was operated in partnership with Menno B. Rickert (1862-1918). Tobias was the son of Abraham Wambold (1811-1896) from Pennsylvania and Hannah Wanner (1824-1911) of Waterloo County. Tobias married Sara Ann Allison (1850-1891) and together they had 12 children. |
