The North Waterloo Rural Softball League operated from 1931 to 1991, and is considered the oldest continuous organized softball league in Canada. All of the players had to be residents of or employed in the community for which they played. Teams from the following villages and towns were members of the league- Bloomingdale, Breslau, Bridgeport, Conestogo, Elmira, Maryhill, St. Clements, St. Jacobs, Waterloo, West Montrose, and Winterbourne. The Breslau Merchants were the North Waterloo Rural Softball League champions in 1945, 1948, from 1951-1960, 1971, 1972, and 1978. |
