Description |
Moulded, transparent glass milk bottle. The bottle has a circular base and a long neck with a wide mouth. Embossed in a circle on the front of the bottle is "Waterloo/Dairy". The letters have been painted white and black, which is not original to the bottle. There is a waxed cardboard lid on the bottle. It has a red and green graphic of a barn surrounded by trees with "Shantz/Dairy/Farm" and "Pasteurized Cream" printed above and below the image. Faint maker's mark on the base but it is difficult to make out. |

History |
Waterloo Dairy was started in 1923 by brothers Alvin Knarr (1897-1970) and Clayton Knarr (1899-1977). The dairy was located at 177 Erb Street West in Waterloo, ON. In 1929, the dairy was bought by Abraham G. Shantz (1889-1954), who operated it until 1946. |
