Black and white photograph of the right side of the Seibert House. Two cars parked in the driveway. Tree with buds in the upper left corner. Shows the addition where it is joined to the original house. Upper window appears to be missing and is covered with plastic sheeting. Handwritten in ink on the reverse "1964/31 Madison/Kitchener/at time of its removal to the Doon Pioneer Village". No photographer's mark. |

History |
Jacob Erb Seibert (1859-1956) was a son of Jacob Stein Seibert (1823-1904) and Elizabeth Erb (1825-1905) of Bridgeport, ON. Jacob purchased the Seibert House from his mother in 1902. He and his second wife, Rachel Ogram (1876-1956), and their seven children lived in the house. Jacob worked as a cabinetmaker. The house was originally located at 31 Albert Street South/31 Madison Avenue in Berlin/Kitchener. It was moved to Doon Heritage Crossroads, now Doon Heritage Village, in 1964 when the City of Kitchener expanded Charles Street. |
