History |
Twin brothers Gerald (1920-2009) and Russell (1920-2007) McKee established a harvester manufacturing plant in Elmira, Ontario around 1949. The company was famous for its McKee One Man Harvester but soon developed other equipment. By 1958, a dealer network was set up across Canada. The twins eventually sold their shares in the company (late 1970s-early 1980s) and went on to operate additional businesses in Elmira. The brothers are inductees in the Waterloo Region Hall of Fame. The Elmira Maple Syrup Festival began April 10, 1965. Festival funds are used to support local charities and non-profit organizations. |
