Black and white photograph with a white border. Photograph is of the Bellinger (later Omand) house on William Street in Wellesley, Ontario. The Wellesley Post Office is to the right of the house. The photograph was taken in winter as there is snow on the ground and the trees are bare. Printed on the reverse is a repeating pattern of "Velox". |

Photograph is attributed to Ida Grenzebach (1890-1967), a daughter of William Grenzebach (1858-?) and Emma Wegenast (1863-?) of Hickson, Oxford County. When Ida was a young woman she went to live with her aunt, Laura/Louise Wegenast (1865-1919) and her husband in Wellesley, ON. Laura/Louise was married to Henry Forler (1870-1931) had a shoe store in the village. They had no children but Henry's parents lived with them. Ida most likely helped with the housework and may have helped in the store. The store Henry rented in Wellesley was moved to Doon Heritage Village in 1969, and is currently interpreted as the Post Office/Tailor Shop. Ida married Henry in 1927. What happened to Ida after Henry's death is unknown. Both Ida and Henry are buried in Waterloo's Mount Hope Cemetery. |
