Description |
Black and white image of a young woman posed in a photographer's studio. Cabinet card. She is seated with her legs stretched out to the left. She is wearing a black cap with a long ribbon, a white blouse with a ruffle at the neck. There are dark cuffs on the sleeves with pearls along the interior edge, and a dark girdle with lacing. Lighter coloured skirt with a white apron. Scalloped lace along the edge of the skirt. White knit stockings and black shoes with large buckles. Small hoop earrings and a pearl choker. Background is painted and there is a carpet on the floor. Photographer's mark along the bottom edge "Huber/Crayon Portraits/Berlin" in gold lettering. Rounded corners. "Emila Mogk" is handwritten in blue ink on the reverse. |

Emilia/Emilie Mogk (1860-1926) was the daughter of George Philip Mogk (1832-1896) and Elizabeth Marie Heller (1836-1875) of Berlin/Kitchener, Ontario. She was also a sister to Marie (Mary) Mogk Westphal (1871-1958). Emilie never married and is listed as a dressmaker on various census records. |
