History |
The Sons of England Benefit or Benevolent Society was a Canadian society for Protestants that existed from 1876 to 1971. The primary objective of the society was to provide insurance to members in need but it also existed to foster the British connection and love of Empire in Canada. The Galt Royal Oak Lodge erected a monument to the 11 members who were killed during the First World War in the Mountview Cemetery in Cambridge. The monument was installed on August 24, 1919 and, as of 2020, still stands in the cemetery. |
