History |
The Globe Furniture Company of Waterloo, ON supplied the seating when the C. Dreisinger Funeral Chapel of Elmira, ON was renovated in 1940. Christian Dreisinger (1872-1952) was a son of John Dreisinger (1838–1916) and Christina Braeuchle (1838–1916) of St. Jacobs/Elmira, ON. Christian was a furniture maker and undertaker in Elmira beginning around 1906. He married Harriet Maurer (1872–1936), and they had three children Louise Dreisinger Trapp (1892–1967), Marion E. Dreisinger Armbrust (1894-1975), and George Edward Dreisinger (1897–1949). George took over the business from his father, and George's two children, Hazel Wilken Brown (1916-1998) and David Dreisinger (1917-1993), took over from him. Hazel's daughter, Grace Maher, and David's son, John Dreisinger, were the fourth generation to operate the business. In 2009, the funeral business was purchased by Monty and Karen Steenson. As of 2020, the funeral home is still in operation at 62 Arthur Street South in Elmira. |
