History |
The Scroggins Shoe Company was founded by George Hancock (1879-1948) shortly after the end of the First World War. George was also involved in the Galt Wood Heel Company and the Wragge Shoe Company. The factory was located at the corner of present day George Street North and Park Hill Road West, near the bridge. In 1961, the company was purchased by the Savage Shoe Company. The factory building was demolished around 1975. |
